Little Red Riding Hood Finds the Safety Zone!
(Grades K − 3)
40 minutes. Three characters, one stage manager. Audience participation. Fairy tale theatre with a modern twist.

SAFETY AWARENESS FOR CHILDREN
In this updated version of “Little Red Riding Hood,” Little Red hops out of her storybook to help today’s kids learn how to stay safe on the street, on the internet, and home alone. Kids participate directly in the action as they help Little Red decide if she is in the safety zone or the danger zone. Without scaring them, the play empowers children to make safe choices by following a few basic guidelines such as when to dial 9-1-1, what to do when a stranger knocks on the door, who to ask for help, how to use the internet wisely, and the importance of saying “no” to a stranger.

Your hip version of this story really helped our students see clearly the dangers that surround them daily. You gave them such important tips on how they must respond in dangerous situations.

I was amazed how a significant message pertaining to SAFETY was transmitted in a most powerful, and even at times—comical fashion!

The children enjoyed the performance and could identify with the real-life situations which the performance portrayed. An excellent way to present the topic in a non-threatening way!
