Kathleen Chester, Managing
Director
Kathleen Chester has been working with Periwinkle since 2004, where she has been able to fuse her greatest passions: Theatre, Education, and Business. As an actress, Kathleen performed in a number of regional productions. She holds her BFA in Theatre and Voice from Jacksonville University and a degree in Education from SUNY Oswego. As an English teacher she worked with students to help them prepare for Regents exams. Kathleen also worked with mentally and physically challenged adults. After relocating to Monticello, NY she entered the business field and worked for many years as a department manager in the insurance industry. While employed by Rhulen Agency she notably worked on the 1980 Olympics which were held at Lake Placid. Always looking for a challenge, Kathleen decided to enter the legal field where she focused on estates. One of her greatest accomplishments was closing an estate that remained open for over 60 years.
Scott Laughead, Artistic
Director / Director of Education
Scott Laughead is a playwright, director, and educator. As a playwright, Scott authored Periwinkle’s Rooftop, Little
Red Riding Hood Finds The Safety Zone, and The Birthday
Party That Almost Wasn't, among others. He co-authored his most recent work, Carnival
Café, with Davin McLeod. In addition to directing his own plays, Laughead also directed productions of founder Sunna Rasch’s works including The
Mad Poet Strikes – Again!, The Magic Word, and America,
Yes! Scott holds a B.A. in theatre from Penn State University and received his M.A. from Hunter College. In 2004 Scott received the Ann
Flagg Multicultural Award from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education and in 2006 he taught a graduate level course in creative drama for Hunter College. He lives in New York City and, in addition to his work for Periwinkle, he is a musical director and composer. Professional affiliations include membership in Actors’ Equity, The Dramatist Guild, The National Association for Drama Therapy, and AATE.
Scott Anthony Lupi, Assistant Director of Education
Scott Anthony Lupi is an artist / educator. As a performer, career
highlights include: Theatre: Disney’s High
School Musical; NYMF’s No Boundaries with musical
director Jim Abbott and choreographer AC Ciulla; Two
Cities with musical supervisor Paul Gemignani; New York
Stage Originals’ tour of Dream; The
Sound of Music, Timmy: Westchester Broadway Theatre.
Film and Television: "Camp"; WB’s "New
York Music Theatre Festival Special". National commercials
for television and radio: Coke, MTV, Nickelodeon, 4Kids Entertainment,
Stride Right, Topps, Discovery Channel, and many others. Arts-in-education
career highlights include: Music Theatre International, iTheatrics,
Disney, TADA! Youth Theatre, youngARTS New York, and Covenant
House New York. A graduate of New York University’s Program
in Educational Theatre (“Outstanding Achievement and Citizenship
Award” & “-ISM Grant” Recipient). Proud member of AEA,
AFTRA, AATE, and the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable.
